Parade of Flags
|
Flags have always had an important part in the pride of a country. Armies have marched into battle with a flag of some sort for over a thousand years. The fledgling United States was no different, and several different types of flags appeared on the battlefield to oppose the Kings Colors. Take a look here at the various standards which have lead our armies into battle. |

The British flag - or Union Flag, more popularly known as the Union Jack - records two major constitutional changes.
The original Union Flag, combining the red on white English Cross of St George with the white on blue Scottish Cross of St Andrew, was introduced in 1606 after England and Scotland were united under James VI of Scotland and I of England.
The modern flag appeared when Ireland was joined to the United Kingdom in 1800. The new flag included the diagonal red on white Cross of St Patrick (CLICK HERE to read the full text). Many draw the modern flag incorrectly, CLICK HERE to see how to draw it properly.
