The National Museum of American Jewish History’s mission is to present educational programs and experiences that preserve, explore and celebrate the history of Jews in America. Their purpose is to connect Jews more closely to their heritage and to inspire in people of all backgrounds a greater appreciation for the diversity of the American Jewish experience and the freedoms to which Americans aspire. Every President's Day, the museum reads the letter that the Mikveh Israel Congregation wrote to President Washington in 1790 after he took office as our first president. President George Washington was on hand to read his response to the Jewish community. The 11th PA Regt was on hand to add color to the event and to enjoy the delicious Cherry Pie provided by the museum. The National Museum of American Jewish History is also proud to announce they are building the only National Museum in America devoted to telling the American Jewish Experience. This $100 million facility is located between and in full view of both the National Constitution Center and Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center on the premier corner of Fifth and Market Streets. The new landmark building will house the Museum's exhibitions and programs and serve a diverse audience of more than 250,000 visitors each year. CLICK HERE to visit their website and learn more. |
